January

January is my favorite month. I love all the overcast days and the freezing snow, and the boringness of it all. It's fabulous! But on top of that we had quite a month. I had the worst migraine that I ever experienced. I have a new empathy or sympathy for those who frequently get migraines. I didn't realize how debilitating they are. At the same time Darren and Charlotte were diagnosed with ear infections, and we Darren had the flu, and a week later Luke had the flu. Yikes! I'm done with being sick. I am grateful that we are usually quite healthy.

Our dentist is in downtown Cincinnati so Thursday we all went down, and it reminded me of living in Harlem that summer. It was really fun, and the kids loved it, and hard too. We stopped at Keith's work to visit him. (The Building with the two towers.)

Last night our power went out. Kayla cried for about 20 minutes. She was so scared. She wanted to stay at someone else's house that had the lights on. We were unprepared. The kids had been playing with the flashlights so they were all pretty much dead. So with one cell phone light we ate cookies in the dark (thank goodness for a gas oven), and all slept in my bed. At 1am when the power went back on this is what Kayla and Luke were sleeping like. So cute. It is a real treat that they slept in my bed. That really NEVER happens, and it wasn't so bad, but hope for it to not happen very often. Love you all! Happy February! Yeah for January being over.

Ah that's super cute. Don't know if you outdoor solar lights would work there but it was an idea shared in our ward that I thought was pretty good. Put the solar lights out during the day and have light in the house at night- no batteries required... course, I just hope we don't have the power go out for days and days. I'm glad January is over too.

There's nothing like being sick to make you grateful for your health! Did you get any sleep while they were in your bed?? :) We miss you guys but it looks like you're loving Ohio!

Loved this post!! So real. So life. I think I love January just about as much as you do. I haven't blogged at all this year, but maybe I should...for memories sake (heaven forbid we forget January).

Lindy forwarded me your blog address, so now I can blog stalk you! Wow, what a whirlwind of sickness. I feel bad I didn't know - I could have brought dinner or something! Next time you're sick, I'll be on dinner duty.
