Corn Belly's

It was only 93 cents to go to this Corn Belly's Harvest festival at Thanksgiving point on Friday. So while Keith was at a campout we met up with Steve and Camille (my awesome cousin's fam) and took the kids to party. They loved it. If any of you live in Utah and get the chance to go, you should. IT really is a fun place for kids. Luke is still talking about it. The dried corn to play in was a hit...way less messy than sand, I think. You could make a princess scarecrow, but most the kids opted out to dressing up themselves instead (including Luke.) Don't talk about it with Keith. But Luke was screaming to also dress up, so I gave in.

Bridal Veil Falls and Canyon Walks

I love that the Provo Canyon is about a five minute drive from our house. I have really been trying to take advantage of that fact this year, and before all the snow and cold weather comes. We have walked to Bridal Veil Falls a few different times with different spouses from the MBA program. I love hanging out with the spouses. I really will miss that when we are in Cinncinnati next year. And I will miss all the outdoor stuff there is to do here.

The Top of the Y

Last wednesday the kids and I hiked the Y. We did it last year, but without Darren--(in utero than i suppose). We had a blast. Looking for lizards, grasshoppers, and what not. I'm not going to lie... we had to sing songs like "The Busby's go marching one by one hoorah, hoorah, Luke stops to throw some rocks...the Busby's going marching one by one to get up to the Y..." Luke was obsessed, or shall I say IS OBSESSED with Rocks and throwing them. Is that a boy thing? Are your boys like that too? Kayla has never seemed to have that obsession. Darren was so good. I forgot he was with us at times he was so chill...just like in the city I would be thinking about transfering subways or something and completely forget I was wearing him in the Bjorn until someone would comment on how cute he was. I would look at them confused and than realize he was attached to me.

It was gorgeous up there, I don't know if you can see the colorful trees above Kayla and Luke.

Provo

Provo really is a gorgeous place. The mountains are beautiful. That is a picture of Timp from in front of our house---excuse the street light and telephone wires. It is a gorgeous view especially with all the leaves changing color. Last Sunday we walked to the temple with the kids. I love taking the kids there, and watching as they are really quite respectful (when reminded) while on the grounds. It was perfect weather and the grounds are always so beautiful.

BYU! FOOTBALL #8!

Look at my boys watching the game. We got all sports passes again this year. The kids love it, and we will never be able to do it again. Luke's new favorite song is the Cougar fight song. He sings it everyday. Do you love how not a single one of our kids is looking at the camera? Even remotely?

BYU INTRAMURALS!

LOV'IN THE INTRAMURALS. Keith has always done intramurals. All of his undergrad years and all, but I never really did, and then last year when I was pregnant I was obviously not playing again. SO I was soo excited this year to finally be able to play. It Rocks! Keith is on flag football and softball teams, and I'm doing a soccer and flag football team with the the MBA Spouses. SO MUCH FUN!

!BYU Cross Country Chica get together!

GO COUGARS! Last year I was pathetically pathetic about getting together with the xc ladies that were still here in Provo, and unfortunately some of the girls who lived here last year, are not here now...Rena, Quebe, but oh well. Lisa Frischknecht and Anne Heiner are going on missions to Estonia and Germany. It was a great reason to have a trackie bash. We had a pizza party. So Kayla and Luke helped me make the bread sticks and we made homemade pizzas and everyone brought toppings. It was really great to see so many of the girls I hadn't seen in forever, and like time has not passed at all. I only wish we had a whole weekend trip (like the old days) to catch up. We will have to get together again soon.

Luke and Tia's little boy, Grant, totally looks like Tia. Kristy Barrus and her husband Steve also came. But had to leave early. I'll post the cute pic of them.

A triathlon in 3 days....

Have you ever done a triathlon with 3 days notice? I just did, not intentionally. I signed up 3 weeks in advance, but I had problems with my credit card. So I thought it didn't go through, and because of the BYU Football game and other things going on I figured it was better that i hadn't signed up. But then 3 days b4, I realized that I had signed up, and it was non refundable. I had been running, but I hadn't been swimming or biking since the spring. I biked once, and swam once. I came in 3rd for my age group. So considering the lack of training i was happy. Triathlons are just so much fun. My friend "Mooner"--her last name was Moon, came and watched Darren for me. IT was so fun, and my other Friend Anne Heiner came in 2nd. SHe rocks at triathlons.

Kayla's no good, very bad, horrible, terrible Weekend!

Or however that saying goes....On Thursday night we were headed to my flag football game (another story in itself) when Keith was getting the kids in the car. I heard a loud scream, and then the 5 seconds of silence when the real scream continued...What i thought happened, happened. Kayla got her fingers slammed in the sliding van door. Ouch. She cried that whole night. She wanted to still go, but she cried the whole time. I don't blame her, it probably killed.

Then the next night we were at an MBA social just having a jolly old time (that pic above is at the social) when suddenly our friends brought her to us, and we realized her chin had a pretty good gash in it. She hit it while walking up the slide, and falling. We had to take her to urgent care, and she was soo brave. She didn't even cry the whole time they were putting in her five sticthes. I told her she will be good at having babies some day. :O) SHe' s a tough cookie. That night when we got home she ran into the countertop. Not a good weekend for Kayla.

First Solid foods...

Darren just started eating when he turned 6mo. (sept. 3rd). He is hilarious to watch eat. He is getting a little better, but he gave these faces like it was really sour. In the pictures he is eating squash, but even with rice he cringes. Kayla helped feed him, and therefore he definitely covered his bib. :O) Good times.

Butter Knives are for eating???

Not for my little Luke, maybe it has to do with the fact that he is Luke "Skywalker", but butter knives are swords to him. He is obsessed. I constantly find him sneaking butter knives out of my nice silverware set. When I catch him I say, "Hey don't play with my knives, they aren't toys." And he says, "there not toys mom? (in a low deep voice) Okay MOM." At one time he had taken all 8 or whatever to the basement. Now they always want to kill spiders and what not with the butter knives. Boys.

Stuart Falls

After going to NYC for the summer, and doing so many fun things, I decided I wasn't gonna sit around here in Provo and miss all the great things there are to do here. So we have been heading up to the canyon quite frequently this year. It is so gorgeous. My sister's friend Eila wanted to hike Stuart Falls, and I had done it before, but a while ago. So she came up with the kids and I. It was longer than we thought, about 2 miles each way. I the dork that I am, I forgot to make lunches. So the kids were tired and hungry by the time we got there. A very nice man that we met there gave them cookies and m&m's and even carried Kayla all the way back on his shoulders. SO nice. Eila carried Darren home, and I carried Luke. The kids really loved it though. The outdoors are so awesome. Heavenly Father really did create us a beautiful world, and I can't get enough of it.
